Stephens Dance Studios
Stephens Dance Studios wanted to update their website as they prepared for their 20th anniversary year. Their former site had become outdated. Additionally, the hosting service they had been using was cumbersome and difficult for them to make updates with. They were looking to change to something more user-friendly on the studio’s end, as well as more useful for potential and current dancers.
Communication Problem
The studio’s former site had become outdated, both with the content and the design. The content on the site was outdated due to the difficulty of editing the website on their former hosting service. Without updated information, the website did not serve its purpose to inform potential or current dancers. The design of the website had also become outdated. The lack of visual appeal was not positive for the image of the studio, thus not attractive to potential dancers. The studio was looking to change to something more user-friendly on the studio’s end, as well as more useful for potential and current dancers.
Planning
There were many stages of planning for this project, including research, moodboard, content strategies, sitemaps, and wireframes. The studio conducted research on their end, I conducted my own research, and then we compared notes to discuss the most effective solutions for the website.
Solution
The new website for the studio has a modern design and updated information. We chose Squarespace for hosting because it offered the features needed for the studio, fit within their budget, and is user-friendly for them to update. The website is visually appealing and matches the look of the studio. Potential and returning dancers can now register for classes online. Current dancers can access password-protected pages with studio and class-specific information. Within a short time of becoming public, the website had high traffic volume. The online registration option proved to be especially effective based on their registration numbers.
